Don't want to hand out candy? For the most brave among your students, try Larvets. These edible, farm-raised larva are Bar-B-Que, Cheddar Cheese, or Mexican Spice flavored. With only nine calories per serving, these genuine farm-raised edible insects will be a real hit. An unforgettable way to begin a food science or health unit. These dried, delicious treats are great fun. Some of our students describe the taste and crunch as similar to popcorn.

Singles contain 2.0 grams of Larvets (approx 40 - 50 worms) One flavor per single package (sorry, no choice).
Box contains 24 of the single packages in assorted flavors.

I used the worms during Halloween Science. I shared with the students how other countries in the world consume insects and I showed a few examples. I pulled out these worms and told students they could try one and get a sticker. They thought it was totally gross and couldn't wait to pop one in their mouth. I teach 550 students each week and most of them tried a worm. I've been flooded with emails from parents thanking me and telling me their child came home bragging about eating a bug. HUGE HIT!

Corn Nuts?

Everyone who tried them said they tasted a lot like Corn Nuts. Only a couple people couldn't get over the fact that they were insects.

The Other White Meat

These meal worms ARE a meal worm. A great topping for yogurt, in the Faculty Room. But I really enjoy giving them to my students on Halloween. They generate great classroom discussions about sustainability. And, they even conform to our school district's Health Foods policy. I would never consider purchasing them from any other source than Educational Innovations.

They're not super tasty but definitely not gross. I bought them because I'm currently experimenting with my own insect recipes. They were a hit at the party I brought them to.

Granted my students weren't Emitted to eat these, I did...talk about a discrepant event and getting kids talking about Science!, The students couldn't stop buzzing about it and happily and excitedly they told their friends & families.

Great for the Classroom

I have been a science teacher for four years, and I love using these in the classroom as incentives. The kids want to try them, and those who don't want to see ME try them! I pretend not to like them, but they really taste good--and it's a good motivator to get them to study if they want to see me eat them (they all have to get a certain grade or higher for that.). Great product!

Tastes like CornNuts!

I always buy a couple boxes of these at CAST or NSTA. Fun to use when teaching insects after you talk about the life cycle. I have mealworms in my classroom, so this really grosses my kids out as I snack on them during class lecture. Then I offer them up to anyone at the end of class. Usually I have one or two brave kids (I teach high school) who will try them. They usually like them and that convinces others to try them. I then talk about how the US is one of a few countries that doesn't readily include insects in our diet. We look at nutrient content in different insects to incorporate another teaching standard.
