Help identify a mineral by determining its hardness and performing a streak test. The collection of nine minerals represents the Mohs hardness scale from #1 (talc) to #9 (corundum). In addition, the kit includes instructions, a streak plate, and a 4.25" x 5.5" field pouch.

This added a lot to our geology study. It was fun to see the different minerals and the kids loved testing all their rocks against them and doing the scratch test while "investigating" rocks they found. But we don't use the feldspar because it flakes. and the topaz is too nice to scratch.

I love the idea of having these packets...however quality control needs to be aware that I had to empty them all put them in the right bags..what the card said was not always accurate and I am short 1 piece of talc and the corundum is too small to test
