Teach about electricity, open and closed circuits, conductors and insulators.

Description

The DIY Light Wand Kit is a wonderful way to teach students about electricity, open and closed circuits, and the difference between conductors and insulators. Includes a four-page lesson and enough materials for ten students to build their own colorful Light Wands. All you provide is some tape. Construction is safe and simple enough for students grades 3 and up. This is a great - and economical - STEM activity that's bound to motivate students to learn more about electricity.

Kit includes: 10 jumbo craft sticks, 10 binder clips, 10 button batteries, copper conductive tape, 10 LED lights, and a four-page lesson. Enough materials to make 10 light wands.

don't agree that it's for all ages. tape is fragile and difficult to apply, at least for the 2nd/3rd graders I worked with.

Owner Response: We agree that this activity is not designed for younger children. The website does indicate that the lowest grade should be 3rd, but we see that the description says it's good for all ages. We will do a better job of clarifying that in the description.

Great Hands-On Learning!
Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Jan 31, 2022
I have purchased thousands of these kits for an educational program I help run. Fourth and fifth grade students are able to meet with my teachers virtually, and still get some great hands-on learning in. Educational Innovations has amazing customer service and has been very accommodating and open to feedback. Every set of kits I have ordered has arrived as ordered and on time. The instructions included with the kits are detailed and come with tips, extension ideas, and connections to NGSS. Classroom teacher feed back has been positive and students have had overwhelming success.

Perfect for Our Science Party!
Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Oct 19, 2020
We purchased this kit to use at our 8 year old daughter's science themed birthday party. The kids had a great time making the wands and were so excited to see them work. The kits were so convenient and much less expensive than if I had purchased the necessary elements separately elsewhere. I will mention that there is an error in the directions that kept our test run wand from working. Fortunately, I read through them beforehand and worked out the kinks before I tried it with the kids.

Owner Response: Thank you so much for your review! We have corrected the error in the instruction. Thank you for the heads-up!
