This is a great example to explain standing waves. Will use at end of semester. Had a chance to show to former students and they were sad I didn't go have it last year. I would like it better if I could change the speed more.

I wanted to use this to teach waves to students, but had a hard time getting reliable waves. Sometimes I could get it to hold a wave nicely, other times not at all. Too much fiddling about to do in front of a class. Very frustrating. A toy.

This machine is an excellent device to teach standing waves. It is easy to set up and control and produces several different patterns of standing waves in a rotating string, which is about 20 inches long. The built-in LED multi-color illumination enhances its performance when is presented in a dark. Despite moving parts is safe to operate and even touch.
