Envirobond is a unique long chain polymer that is hydrocarbon specific. It will only absorb and molecularly bond with hydrocarbons while repelling any water. No mixing required. Works with lubricating oils, vegetable oil, diesel, gasoline, etc.

Great experiment for kids

We've been using this stuff for years, and it works great as long as you don't use too much oil. It's not like water absorbing polymers that can absorb a TON of water... so don't expect it to soak up more than about 1 tbsp of oil for most experiments. And it likely will leave a small residue of oil behind, but that's actually part of the lesson - even our best efforts can't fully capture all the pollutants resulting from oil spills.

Unfortunately this product took two days to absorb the oil in the pans. Not two hours. It was interesting to the students but I could not use it during the activity.
