Works great with our laser pointers!

Description

When this non-toxic aerosol is sprayed in a darkened room, a laser beam can be readily seen. Used in theaters to create special effects. A 20-second burst will fill an average-size room with a hang time of one to two hours. A full can will generate haze continuously for five minutes or 15 applications at 20 seconds each. (This product is much safer than putting chalk dust into the air.) 10 oz can, non-flammable and nontoxic.

Nice alternative to a fog machine
Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Sep 10, 2021
I've done a lot of laser shows in schools and used big fog machines. With the introduction of more sensitive smoke detectors the fog machines are no longer used. This product achieves a similar effect without setting off the detectors. And I can use it for very small demonstrations. Any lesson on optics using even a small laser pointer is greatly enhanced with this fog.

NGSS

This product will support your students' understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)*, as shown in the table below.

Elementary Middle School High School

1-PS4-3

Students can use Diffusion Mist to conduct an investigation of how different materials affect the path of light.

2-PS1-2

Students can use these in an investigation where Diffusion Mist and other different materials are tested with analyze data and determine which materials have the properties that are best suited for an intended purpose.

5-PS1-3

Students can use Diffusion Mist to make observations and measurements to identify materials based on their properties.

MS-PS4-2

Students can use Diffusion Mist to develop and use a model to describe how waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials.

HS-PS4-1

Students can use Diffusion Mist to conduct investigations and use mathematical representations to support a claim regarding relationships among the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves traveling in various media.

HS-PS4-5

Students can use this Mirror to conduct investigations about technological devices use the principles of wave behavior and wave interactions with matter to transmit.

Suggested Science Idea(s)

2-PS1-2

Students can experiment with a variety of materials to determine which ones are best suited for an intended purpose such as seeing around a corner. Concave mirrors narrow the scope of vision, whereas convex mirrors broaden the scope of vision.

5-PS1-3

Students can use Diffusion Mist to test for reflectivity when shinning it with a light or laser.

1-PS4-3 and
HS-PS4-1

Students use Diffusion Mist to test the Law of Reflection by using a flashlight or laser pointed at the mirror and measuring the angles off the mirror. Placing a concave and a convex mirror side by side with an item to be reflected shows how the light or reflection can be bent due to the surface shape.

MS-PS4-2

Students can use Diffusion Mist and other objects during investigations about what materials allow the light from a laser to pass through, be absorbed or reflected.
