Description

This set includes a fantastic assortment of our most popular neodymium magnets which work well with all of our Super-Large Eddy Current Tubes. Each has different characteristics along with slightly different fall times. A must for every teacher or student experimenting with eddy current tubes!

Injury Hazard: Handle with extreme care to avoid injury and/or damage to the magnets. Fingers can be pinched between attracting magnets, and magnets can chip if allowed to 'jump' at an attracting surface or object.

choking hazard 8yrs

The magnets are fun and all, but they do break, so be careful with them

Neodymium Magnets

The magnets are terrible. I cut myself twice trying to separate the magnets apart once I loosened the magnets apart one of the magnets would seem to always break on me. I had little to no success with this product. How disappointing? What a waste of money. I would rate this product a "1 star" rating. Don't get this product please. You'll save yourself money.
Michael
Owner Response: These magnets are extremely powerful. As mentioned on the page, great care must be taken when handling these magnets as they are very strong.

Amazingly strong! These magnets are quite difficult to pull apart. They're so strong they're a bit dangerous. Can pinch your fingers and can slam together and fracture.

NGSS

This product will support your students' understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)*, as shown in the table below.

Elementary Middle School High School

K-PS2-1

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets to plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object.

2-PS1-2

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets to investigate and analyze data obtained from testing different materials to determine which materials have properties that are best suited for an intended purpose.

3-PS2-4

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets define a simple design problem that can be solved by applying scientific ideas about magnets.

MS-PS2-3

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets to ask questions about data to determine the factors that affect the strength of magnetic forces.

MS-PS2-5

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets to conduct an investigation and evaluate the experimental design to provide evidence that fields exist between objects exerting forces on each other even though the objects are not in contact.

HS-PS3-5

The Neodymium Magnets can be used to develop and model how two objects interacting through magnetic fields, illustrates the forces between objects and the changes in energy of the objects due to the interaction.

HS-PS3-3

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets in the design of a device that works with given constraints to convert one form of energy into another form of energy.

Suggested Science Idea(s)

Neodymium Magnets open up a whole new world of magnetic fields, acting on one another. Students can use a pencil or dowel to string magnets on top of each to investigate the repelling magnetic fields or floating magnets. Stacking 4 Magnets to reveal how accumulated magnetic fields act on each other.

K-PS2-1

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets and other types of magnets to plan and conduct an investigation on the strength of the pushes and pull and exert on objects.

DCI/PS1.A
2-PS1-2

Matter can be described and classified by its observable properties. Students can use the Neo Magnets to test for materials that are attracted to a magnet.

MS-PS2-5

The Neodymium Magnets are a wonderful tool to show the interaction of magnets without contact of those magnets.

HS-PS3-3

Students can use the Neodymium Magnets in the design of a device such as a Rube Goldberg machine.

DCI/HS-PS2.B

Investigations using the Neodymium Magnets will demonstrate the attraction and repulsion between magnetic forces.
