When spun in a circular motion, these tubes produce different tones.

Description

Sound Tubes are our absolute favorite sound toy. When spun in a circular motion, these tubes produce a tone. As the Sound Tubes are spun faster, the tone steps up in frequency. Due to the harmonics of the tube, there is not a gradual increase in frequency. Use these with our Wave Modeling Spring for a fantastic standing wave demonstration. Approx. 76 cm (30") long. Colors and styles may vary.

Only 4 Notes

These sound tubes are kind of stiff. I can only get four notes when I twirl them. Tubes I purchased in the past were more pliable and I could get five notes by twirling. This is important to my demonstration where I play TAPS to demonstrate a simply system that exhibits quantized levels.

It is easy to show the affect changing frequency has on pitch and it is so inexpensive I don't mind letting the kids play with it. Good with any grade level.
