Demonstrate Newton's classic laws of physics with the flick of a wrist.

Description

Demonstrate Newton's classic laws of physics! With a flick of the wrist, set the spheres in motion. It really is "all in the wrist!" As the first sphere swings around, it stops and transfers its energy to the second ball, forcing it to swing around. With practice, students can even make the spheres ricochet off one another above and below the handle. Colors may vary. Two sizes. 10 cm (4") handle or 20 cm (8") handle.

I use these for teacher workshops on force and motion, and they are perfect for the teachers to see how forces work. They are inexpensive enough that I can give them away to the participants, and the teachers just LOVE them!

Once good, now not working

I purchased those several times in the past and they were working perfectly fine. I used them in Forces workshops and kids had great fun. I would have give easily a 5 star review. However, the last time I bought those, I've got a bad surprise. The packaging, colors and quality of the product have changed. They used to be packed as single item, now they are loose in a big box.The colors are better but.. they don't work! I had to file every single piece to make it work. Since I love those yo-yo and I'm buying them very often, I hope Educational Innovation will consider going back to the old good quality ones.

I bought several of the most inexpensive physics toys for my students (senior physics students) and they loved them all.

NGSS

This product will support your students' understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)*, as shown in the table below.

Elementary Middle School High School

K-PS2-1

Students can use Newton's YoYo to plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object.

K-PS2-2

Students can use Newton's YoYo in an investigation to analyze data to determine if a design solution works as intended to change the speed or direction of an object with a push or a pull.

3-PS2-2

Students can use Newton's YoYo in an investigation to understand motion. Students can make observation and/or measurements of an object's motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion.

4-PS3-4

Students can use Newton's YoYo to design, test, and refine a device that converts energy from one form to another.

MS-PS3-5

Students can use Newton's YoYo to construct, use and present arguments or experiments to support the claim that when the motion energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object.

HS-PS2-1

Students can use Newton's YoYo in an investigation to analyze data to support the claim that Newton's Second Law of Motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration.

HS-PS2-2

Students can use Newton's YoYo in an investigation and use mathematical representations to support the claim that the total momentum of a system of objects is conserved when there is no net force on the system.

HS-PS3-4

Students can use Newton's YoYo design, build, and refine a device that works within given constraints to convert one form of energy into another form of energy.
