NSTA Boston- Super! Wow! Neat! Science with Bob Becker and Ron Perkins
Discrepant events are great hooks for teaching science. Having presented over 1000 workshops and being recognized with the highest national awards for science teaching, Bob and Ron shared some of their best lessons using Educational Innovations, Inc. products. Learn what happens when a piece of paper is hit with a "shock wave"; make a fortune fish motor; observe a real density puzzle; create beautiful colors using three colorless materials; and teach static electricity with a new hand-held Van de Graff generator. In addition to presenting workshops for teachers across the United States, Bob is teaching science at Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO, and after teaching for 33 years and presenting over 800 workshops for teachers across the globe, Ron has finally retired from teaching high school students and is now devoting all his time to the running of Educational Innovations and teaching teachers. Grades 2 - college.
Amazing Ice Melting Blocks
This is one of the most striking demonstrations we have seen in a long time.
Buzzing Stunt Magnets (Set of 2)
When tossed in the air, these special magnets produce a clattering sound, much like a Cicada or high voltage sparking.
Dropper Popper
This incredible device seemingly defies the laws of physics by bouncing higher than where you dropped it from!
Fortune Fish (package of 144)
A very thin piece of red cellophane in the shape of a 3.5-inch long fish, this amazing innovation twists and curls when placed in the palm of your hand.
Gas Solubility Demonstration ("The Baby Bottle Experiment")
Watch the nipple expand as the gas comes out of solution. Amazing to see! Great for teaching Henry’s Law of Partial Pressures.
Hand Boiler
These incredible devices are sold individually and in cases of 12 for your entire class.
Magnetic Accelerator
Could this be the basis of a perpetual motion machine? Great for open-ended discovery.
Milk Bottle & Egg Demo
It's all about Air Pressure! - A Classic Demonstration!
Mysterious Glowing Ball
When spun in a circle by the cord, one can see the white light separate into blinking red, blue, and green lights.
Polarizing Filters
These high quality plastic polarizing filters are perfect for all kinds of experimentation.
Poly Density Kit
When the 1L bottle is shaken, blue and white beads mix as expected. However, when allowed to settle, a surprising change occurs.
Singing Drum Spinner
Swing this drum around by the handle, and listen to its creepy, crackling bark!
Smashing! Steel Sphere Demo Kit
When these spheres are smashed together, enough heat is generated at the point of contact to burn a hole in a piece of ordinary paper!
The Private Eye Loupe
These simple 5x magnifying lenses are perfect for large and small hands alike! Used throughout The Private Eye book.
Woodpecker Potential Energy Demo
Raise the woodpecker to the top of the pole and watch it peck its way to the bottom.
