Antique Purple Bottles vs. Raspberries... How are they similar?
Answer: Both have been irradiated with a Co-60 source.

One of each pair of bottles has recently been irradiated with a Co-60 radioactive source for 48 hours, causing the bottle to change from colorless to purple. Great for demonstrating to students the effect of radiation on a substance such as glass! A Co-60 source is used to irradiate much of our food to reduce the presence of food-borne, disease-causing microbes and parasites. Start a discussion on the current practice of irradiating our food.

Found in an old New Hampshire barn, we believe that these bottles are more than a hundred years old. They may need to be washed with soap and water. Note: these bottles are NOT radioactive! Paired, according to size. Sorry, our bottle supply is very limited - we cannot guarantee any particular style.
