True goldenrod paper is made from a dye which is an acid-base indicator. This paper turns bright red in bases such as ammonia, baking soda or washing soda and returns to bright yellow in acids such as vinegar or lemon juice. What better way to leave a bloody hand print and then discover the science behind why that occurs.   Instructions included. Color-changing goldenrod paper has become very difficult to find. This terrific pigment is used to make paint and other products glow in the dark. To make a super glowing paint, simply mix this non-toxic powder with Elmer's glue. The pigment can be activated by just about any light source including sunlight, fluorescent, incandescent and ultraviolet light. Use our colored light sticks to demonstrate the pigment's greater sensitivity to blue light. Mix this glowing pigment 20-30% by weight to make the best phosphorescent paint.  Perfect for glowing Jack-o-lanterns, spooky ghosts, and as an addition to your slime to make a real spooky splash!

 

Chemical light sticks don't create heat or sparks when lit and are completely waterproof. Place one in warm water and one in cold water and observe the effect of temperature on the rates of chemical reactions. Non-toxic and safe for young children. Available in 6" red, blue or green.
