Heat Sensitive Transon
Place a flat sheet of plastic in a dishpan of hot water and watch it expand. Do the holes in the center get larger or smaller? Place in ice water and watch it contract. Contains a flat 20 x 28 cm (8" x 11”) flat piece with two holes cut out of the center and two round pieces to fill the holes. Sometimes the round pieces fit in the holes and sometimes not. All students are amazed to observe the size change and advanced students can calculate its coefficient of expansion. Fantastic for introducing the engineering problems of expansion and contraction!

Additional Products

Density Paradox (set of two)

This is an awesome discrepant event for your most advanced 'density' students! Great for demonstrating how temperature can affect an object's density!
Fortune Fish

A very thin piece of red cellophane in the shape of a 3.5-inch long fish, this amazing innovation twists and curls when placed in the palm of your hand.
Large Scale Thermal Expansion Apparatus

The apparatus is easily assembled without tools. As a result of the length and material choice, thermal expansion of as much as two centimeters may occur in a matter of minutes.
Thermoplastic Polymer

This amazingly versatile polymer can be heated and molded over and over again
