Hang them from a hook, give them a pull, and you have a wonderful demonstration of oscillation.
Larger View
Hang them from a hook, give them a pull, and you have a wonderful demonstration of oscillation. Great for starting a discussion on such topics as periodic motion, frequency, potential and kinetic energy. Unlike some similar demonstrations, these critters are weighted just right and the springs have just the right tension. The result is movement that is slow and gentle enough that even young student can count the cycles. Older students can easily time them with a stopwatch. The springs and weights for each character are a little different giving them different properties. Having a variety allows you to make comparisons. Figures are about 15 cm (~6 inches) from head to toe. Springs stretch to about a meter (~39 inches) in normal use.
Astro-Blaster Multiple Collision Accelerator
When the apparatus is dropped straight downward onto a hard surface, the top ball can rebound to a height equal to five times the original drop.
Choositz Decision Balls
Dropped onto a hard surface, one ball bounces high while the other hits the floor and stops immediately.
Newton's Cradle
Perfect for teaching your students about Newton's laws of motion, Newton's Cradle makes a great addition to any classroom.
Yellow Duck Walker
Place the wooden duck on the top of the ramp and watch it walk to the bottom.
