Our Barn Owl Pellets are perfect to illustrate the nature of food chains and to demonstrate the role of predators in the ecosystem. Educational Innovations offers only Department of Agriculture approved, heat-sterilized (no odor) pellets. Owl Pellets are a natural educational tool. Introduce skeletal anatomy and the identification of prey with our Owl Pellets from the wild -- each unique in size, shape, and contents. Small Owl Pellets about about 1" in length. Medium Owl Pellets are about 1.5" in length. Available in any quantity. Wooden dissecting probes also available for 5 cents each.

Educational Innovations sells only Grade A Whole Pellets.

Owl Pellets are a natural product, and as such availability can be quite variable. If you must have your pellets for an event on a specific date, we recommend that you call in advance to check availability. This is especially true for larger orders.

Not happy. I ordered the medium ones but they are very small. I would hate to see your small ones!!!

Owner Response: I'm very sorry you are dissatisfied. We measure all our owl pellets and medium pellets should be between 1.5 and 2 inches. I suppose it's possible that smaller ones may have slipped through. If you received any that are smaller than 1.5 we will gladly take them back and send you larger ones at our expense.

Fun and Science!

Had a wonderful time exploring and hypothesizing what animal the owl had for dinner with my Preschool class. There were plenty of bones and skulls to find and observe.

Great fun

Great pellets! My students loved the booklets that came along with them. The poster and diagrams that were included were really informative and helpful when the kids were identifying each bone. They helped with vocabulary a lot. Each pellet was full of bones and each child could rebuild an entire vole to really see the food web in action.

Great Learning Experience

My 4th grade students were thrilled with this experiment! At first they were terrified since they did not know what a pellet was made of. Some thought pellets were "owl poop" and others thought it was "owl throw-up" and all cringed at the thought of "dissecting" these. The educational materials, while too in-depth for our age kids, were very informative and helped jump start a lot of great discussions. The skull diagrams helped students identify their bone specimens as well. Many of our students found multiple skull and jaw fragments, which was way more exciting than they thought it would be. The smaller bones were harder for them to identify, thus not "as fun," but they spent a lot of time pouring over the one skeleton diagram to see if any of bones matched and what the proper names would be. It was a great project to use in our class to wrap up our unit on Vertebrates and bones in general.

We bought these owl pellets after our son had a blast in science class and wanted to dissect more. We found the price to be good, and in the first pellet he found an amazing bird skull, fully in tact. It was worth the shipping!

We ordered over 100 of these pellets for our 6th grade classes, and they were all a uniform size, and were filled with rodent remains! The students were thrilled and learned a plethora about the diets of Barn Owls and food chains in general.

Students are fascinated at the small bones and skeletons they are able to construct from the pellets. This is such an important area of science: the food chain, the principles of ecology, animal structure and function, skeletal anatomy, and natural history. Hands-on learning is essential in my special education classroom.

Teaching High School Biology you would think that these would be "too young" for my students, but they love this lab. The product is excellent - most if not all the pellets have very good skulls and multiple other bones. Incorporating this lab into an animal's niche instruction has been excellent.
